Starting with the 2022–2023 academic year, authorities increased the entrance costs to private medical and dental colleges by 20% to Tk19.44 lakh. The amount was fixed at Tk16.20 lakh back in 2018.
The monthly tuition for MBBS and BDS students was also increased by 33.33% to Tk 10,000 by the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division. The internship fee has remained at Tk180,000, according to a formal notice made in this respect on February 16.
In a meeting presided over by Health Minister Zahid Maleque, it is reportedly planned to raise the fees in response to suggestions made by the private medical and dental colleges. There are 72 private and 37 government medical schools in Bangladesh.
