2023 to Rank as Warmest Year: US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Metropolis Desk-

The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts that 2023 will be the warmest year, following a record-breaking month in September.

The data comes as world leaders prepare for crunch talks in Dubai in November, where phasing out fossil fuels will be a top agenda item.

September 2023 was the fourth consecutive month of record-warm global temperatures, with significant climate anomalies such as Storm Daniel and an extratropical cyclone causing widespread destruction.

The average global temperature for September was 2.59 degrees F (1.44 degrees C) above the 20th-century average of 59.0F (15.0C).

Long-term warming to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels is essential to avoid catastrophic climate change consequences.
