A 25-year agreement between Bangladesh and Nepal to import 40 megawatts of power from Nepal will be struck.
Governments of both countries will participate in the agreement, with Nepal preparing to offer a “good tariff as a good gesture.”
After Nepal, India, and Bangladesh reach a trilateral agreement regarding the use of Indian territory for the transmission of power from Nepal to Bangladesh, the agreement will become official.
Bangladesh will pay the Indian nodal agency for cross-border power trading the transmission and service fees assessed in accordance with India’s open access regulations.
Through the high-voltage Baharampur-Bheramara cross-border transmission line, the agreement is anticipated to enable electricity commerce.
The agreement was inked in Bangladesh in May during a gathering of the joint steering committee.
