An explosion at an Akij Venture factory in Habiganj’s Bahubal Upazila during gas line repairs has claimed the lives of four workers.
A second person was hurt in the explosion. Assistant Superintendent of Police Zahirul Islam of the Bahubal Circle said the incident happened Tuesday morning around 9 a.m. in the
Dubai Bazar area.
Three people have been identified as residents of the Chandpur district: Mahfuz Mia, Riaz Mia, and Mizan Gazi.
Four contractors were working on the factory’s gas line when an explosion happened, according to ASP Zahirul.
Mizan and Mahfuz succumbed to their burns immediately.
Akij Group employee Riaz and two other blast victims were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
On the way, Riaz passed away, and hospital staff pronounced another victim dead.
