The fourth dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is being given as part of a special campaign that began yesterday. At Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka, the campaign was introduced by Ahmedul Kabir, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services.
According to a DGHS press release, NNNN elderly and priority group members received their fourth doses on the first day from over 1,000 permanent national centers. Pfizer vaccines are being used in the campaign.
During the campaign, the vaccine will be administered to members of the priority group, which consists of frontline workers, expectant mothers, immunocompromised individuals, and those 18 and older with chronic illnesses.
Freedom fighters, employees of the health ministry, its partner organizations, and authorized private healthcare organizations, all employees of the government, private, and autonomous organizations, law enforcement and military personnel, journalists, bank employees, national team members, and other frontline workers are among those considered to be on the frontlines.
According to the most recent statistics, 14.9 crore individuals have received the first dose of the vaccine, 12.65 crore people have received the second dose, and 6.47 crore people have received the booster dosage for COVID-19.
On February 8 of last year, the government began administering the Oxford-AstraZeneca-produced Covid-19 vaccination to large numbers of people.
Later, the list was expanded to include six additional Covid-19 vaccines created by various businesses. These include Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, Sinopharm, Moderna, Sinovac, and Pfizer-PD (Comirnaty).
