Five passengers of a CNG-run auto rickshaw were killed in a road accident of Bogura’s Shahjahanpur upazila on Thursday.
Two of the deceased could be identified as Hazrat Ali, 50, an auto-rickshaw driver of Kadomtoli village in Gabtoli upazila, and Golam Rabbani Badsha, 60, Bererbari village in Dhunut upazila.
Police and locals said the accident took place around 12:00pm when a Dhaka-bound bus from Gaibandha hit a CNG-run auto rickshaw in Dahpara area of Shahjahanpur, leaving three passengers and driver of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and another seriously injured.
The nine-year-old injured was later sent to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where she died around 2:00pm, said Lalon Hossain, assistant sub-inspector at the hospital’s police outpost.
Local people set the bus on fire after the incident which was later doused by firefighters.
The bus driver and its helper mananged to flee the scene soon after the incident, said ASI Abbas Ali of Koigari police outpost.
