50 Bangladeshi Hajj Pilgrims Die in Saudi Arabia This Year

Up till this morning, 50 Bangladeshi hajj pilgrims perished in Saudi Arabia. 

Twelve women and 38 men made up the total number of deceased, according to the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh. 

The Ministry of Religious Affairs claims that the majority of them passed away in Mecca. 

25 of the dead were between 60 and 70 years old, according to the ministry’s hajj homepage.

The date of this year’s Hajj was June 16. 

Numerous local and international media sites have reported that numerous pilgrims passed away from heat-related ailments during the hajj, which was completed in extremely hot conditions.

Most pilgrims who pass away during the hajj in Saudi Arabia are buried there.

Despite Saudi Arabia granting Bangladesh a total of 1.27 lakh hajj quota, 85,112 Bangladeshis completed the hajj this year, according to information from the Religious Affairs Ministry. 

Statistics from the Hajj Office in Ashkona, the capital, show that, out of the total, 80,630 persons completed the Hajj under private administration and 4,482 under government control. 

18.33 lakh Muslims completed the hajj in total; of them, 2.21 lakh were Saudi nationals and 16.11 lakh were foreigners, according to sources from the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh. 

On June 21, the hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh began their journey home.
