Highway police have seized five vehicles, including four buses, and filed cases against fifty vehicles for driving recklessly on the Dhaka-Mawa motorway and lacking licenses and fitness certificates.
According to AKM Akhtaruzzaman Basunia, additional DIG of Highway Police, the operation was carried out on Saturday between midnight and four in the morning.
“The crackdown was initiated by the Gazipur region Highway Police due to frequent accidents on the motorway,” he stated.
Eight patrol teams from the Highway Police, three patrol teams from the Munshiganj district police, and one team from the Rapid Action Battalion-10 participated in the operation.
At the Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza point, cars were pulled over and documents were examined, according to DIG Akhtaruzzaman. Due to the lack of proper documentation, four buses and a motorbike were seized.
According to the DIG, other plans were later made for the people on the buses that were seized so they could get to Dhaka.
