54 members of the BNP’s Munshiganj unit were detained by the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Monday at the Banani Club.
While police alleged they were preparing to stage an anti-government event, BNP stated the leaders and activists had gone there to attend a dinner.
According to Banani Police, a team from DB Gulshan conducted a raid at the club and took them to the DB office.
“While in the club, they planned to engage in anti-state actions. 56 people, including the 54 people, have been detained in accordance with the Anti-Terrorism Act,” said police.
