Metropolis Report-

Six people were given the death penalty by the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh on Monday for crimes against humanity committed in Trishal, Mymensingh, in 1971, during the Liberation War.

After they were found to have committed murder, kidnapping, looting, and other heinous acts, the tribunal, presided over by Justice Shahinur Islam, gave its verdict today.

The defendants are Mokhleshur Rahman Mukul, Naqib Hossain Adil Sarkar, Sultan Mahmud Fakir, Shamsul Haque Fakir, and Saidur Rahman Ratan. They are all fugitives.

In 2016, the Tribunal’s investigation agency began looking into them, and in early 2019, it filed case charges.
