The death brought the total number of fatalities from the explosion at a market on Mirpur Road close to the Science Lab intersection in the capital to four.
Around 8:30 am on Tuesday, Ayesha Akhter Asha, 26, died in the intensive care unit of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. She had suffered 38 percent burn injuries.
Samanta Lal Sen, Bangladesh’s chief national coordinator for plastic surgery and burn projects, confirmed the death stating that the woman’s respiratory tract had also been hurt.
From Tarapalla village in Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur district, Asha was residing in Jigatola in Dhaka. When the blast occurred, she was working at Phoenix Insurance on the third floor of Shirin Mansion.
Around 11:45 pm on March 5, an explosion at Shirin Mansion resulted in the deaths of three persons and the burns and injuries of numerous others.
