A Rohingya volunteer was shot and killed in Ukhiya’s camp No. 9 by an unidentified assailant.
The deceased was Rashid, son of Abul Bashar from camp No. 8 in Kutupalong, Ukhiya. Assistant DIG Syed Harun Ar Rashid, captain of the 14 Armed Police Battalion, admitted that he had worked as a volunteer.
He claimed that on March 15, at 8 am, a couple of assailants shot Rashid and then ran away. He was saved and brought to the hospital, where the medical staff pronounced him dead.
The body has been brought to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, according to Sheikh Mohammad Ali, the station chief in Ukhiya. Investigations are being conducted on the matter.
