In the early hours of Monday in Pirojpur’s Mathbaria upazila, a bus crashed into a roadside ditch, killing one man and injuring 20 others.
Avinash Mitra, 55, was identified as the dead. He was a Mathbaria court lawyer. At about three in the morning, the mishap happened in the upazila’s Uttar Mithakhali area. A Barguna-bound Ima Paribahan bus driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash into a roadside ditch, said police.
Avinash passed away immediately, and three other individuals were sent to the Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The remaining injured were sent to Mathbari Upazila Health Complex. 45 people were on the bus as it departed Dhaka.
