When a man arrived from Dubai Thursday morning at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, customs officers found 23 gold bars on him.
According to Customs Intelligence and Investigative Department in Chattogram, the man, Md. Ziauddin, had the gold bars concealed under his clothing. The estimated cost of the gold bars is about Tk 2.5 crore.
Md Ziauddin arrived in the port city by Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft BG-146 at about 8:30 am. Authorities got information that Ziauddin was carrying other gold bars in his rectum, so he was brought to a nearby hospital for examination.
The confiscated gold will be given to Bangladesh Bank in accordance with the law. A complaint will be filed with Patenga Police Station, said officials.
