Metropolis Report-
Samsuzzaman Shams, a reporter for Prothom Alo, received bail on Sunday in another case brought before Tejgaon Police Station under the Digital Security Act.
Following Shams’ surrender and request for bail in the case before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi, the order was issued.
In a different case brought before a Dhaka court on April 3 under the same act, Shams was granted bail. Shams was released from jail at 6:22 pm on the same day, five days after being taken from his Savar home.
When Shams appeared in court on March 30, following the filing of the lawsuit against him, a court had already declined to give him bail.
The publisher and editor of Prothom Alo, Matiur Rahman, an unnamed photographer, and several unnamed individuals were also charged in the case.
