In Tangail’s Kalihati upazila this morning, four women perished after being struck by a train while they were crossing railroad tracks.
The deceased were Bashonti, 60, Aroti Rani Das, 55, Shanti Rani, 45, and Shilpi Rani, 28, of Bhuapur upazila in the district, said police.
The incident happened at about 5:30 am in the Mirhamjani neighborhood of Salla Union, under Kalihati upazila.
They were all walking on tracks. When the Ekota Express train headed for Dhaka struck them, they died instantly, according to police.
