Metropolis Report-
In Bhola, a brand-new gas well called Ilisha-1 has been found that can produce 20 to 22 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Nine wells have already been found in the district thanks to experimental gas extraction success by Bapex, the Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited.
According to Bapex, gas extraction will start in earnest on May 15th, barring unforeseen circumstances.
To end the nation’s energy problem, the administration has implemented a number of measures to improve domestic gas output. Despite the crisis and the elevated fuel gas costs around the world, the discovery of the Ilisha-1 gas field in Bhola offers optimism.
The well drilling project was carried out by the Russian corporation Gazprom based on the Bapex design and location, and it was successfully finished on April 24 through Drill Stem Test in three stages at a depth of 3,436 meters.
According to Bapex’s geophysical department, this well will initially have a daily capacity of 20 to 22 million cubic feet of gas, with 180 to 220 billion cubic feet of reserves.
To ascertain the real production per day, though, more testing will be done. There are 1.7 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves in these wells. Only four wells are currently producing gas; 140mmcf of gas per day are being extracted but are not being fully utilized.
