On Monday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will tell the media during a press conference about the results of her recent trip to Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom (UK).

Ihsanul Karim, the press secretary for the prime minister, told the media that the press conference would take place at 4 pm on Monday at her official Ganabhaban residence.

Sheikh Hasina began the first leg of her three-nation trip on April 25 when she flew from Dhaka to Tokyo for a four-day official visit to Japan. At the invitation of her Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida, she traveled to Japan.

The exchange of eight documents, mostly memorandums of understanding, signed between Dhaka and Tokyo to advance cooperation in the fields of agriculture, metro-rail, industrial up-grading, ship-recycling, customs matters, intellectual property, defense, ICT, and cyber security, took place while Sheikh Hasina was in Tokyo. She and her Japanese counterpart were also present at the event.

The premier met with her Japanese colleague Fumio Kishida and paid a courtesy call on Japan’s emperor Naruhito.

Along with presenting the “Friends of Liberation War Honour” to four Japanese citizens on April 27 for their participation in Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971, the premier also went to an investment summit and a community gathering.

She also participated in a number of additional bilateral discussions with the leaders of Jaica, JETRO, JEBIC, JBPFL, and JBCCEC in addition to Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.

The prime minister spent the second leg of her trip to Washington, DC, attending a program honoring the 50-year partnership between Bangladesh and the World Bank as well as a few side events, such as a roundtable with US business executives, meetings with the WB’s incoming president, Ajay Banga, and Kristalina Georgieva, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, and a civic reception.

The Premier attended the coronation of Charles III and his wife Camilla as the King and Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth kingdoms from Washington DC on the third leg of her trip to London.

Sheikh Hasina met with Rishi Sunak, the British prime minister, and King Charles III while she was in London. James Cleverly, the British foreign minister, and his wife Susannah Sparks also paid her a visit at the Claridge Hotel in London, where she resides.

There, she met with Queen Jetsun Pema and the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan. Tony Blair, a former British prime minister, and Baroness Patricia Scotland, the secretary general of the Commonwealth, also met with the Bangladeshi leader. On May 9, Sheikh Hasina arrived home from London.
