Metropolis Report-
In a ruling on Sunday, the High Court demanded that the government provide justification for why it should not be deemed illegal for it to take no action to ensure Hindu women’s right to guardianship, divorce, marriage registration, and access to ancestry property.
Following the filing of a writ petition by many rights organizations, including Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust and Ain O Salish Kendra, the High Court’s bench of Justices Farah Mahbub and Muhammad Mahbubul Islam issued the rule in order to obtain the appropriate orders on the matter.
The petitioners were represented by attorneys Md Shahinuzzaman, SM Rezaul Karim, and Syeda Nasrin.
