US President Joe Biden fell face-first on stage at the Air Force Academy in Colorado on Thursday after stumbling over a barrier, although he seemed unharmed.
Biden, 80, had just shaken hands with a student and started back to his seat after giving the military academy grads’ commencement address when he slipped and collapsed.
He was helped back up by Air Force troops, and he didn’t seem to need any more assistance.
Biden sprang up and pointed at what appeared to have caught his foot. On the stage, it resembled a little, black sandbag.
White House Communications Director Ben LaBolt tweeted shortly afterward that “he’s fine. There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands.”
