A Biman Bangladesh Airlines cabin crew member was apprehended in Saudi Arabia on suspicion of smuggling gold and other items. The flight attendant, FS Ziaul, was working the Dhaka-bound leg of flight BG136 operated by Biman.
Before the flight leaving Jeddah on Monday, the Saudi authorities apprehended him with gold and other contraband. After a further 1.5 hours, the flight eventually took off with 417 passengers on board, leaving Ziaul behind, according to bdnews24.com.
FS Ziaul was returned to Bangladesh on Tuesday, and after being turned over to the police, Dhaka airport authorities opened a case against him for smuggling items in violation of the Special Powers Act. FS Ziaul was taken into custody and brought before the court on Wednesday, said airport police.
