A Bangladeshi peacekeeper Md Ashekur Rahman who was kidnapped on Tuesday in South Sudan has been freed.
According to a press release issued by Bangladesh police and signed by Md Manjur Rahman, additional inspector general (Media and PRO) of police headquarters, Md Ashekur Rahman, a sub-inspector, has been working as an individual police officer (IPO) in the UNMISS mission in South Sudan.
It states that at about 6 o’clock (local time), Ashekur was being followed by a local group while on patrol with a police component.
He was later saved and, together with other Bangladeshi troops, is now well and safe, the press release said.
