Farmer Bulbul Ahmed and his wife Israt Jahan raised a cow as a present for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Eid-ul-Azha sacrifice in Charkauna village, Pakundia upazila, Kishoreganj district.
Out of respect for their affection, the prime minister has consented to receive this cow as a gift.
Moshiur Rahman Humayun, the special assistant to the prime minister, informed the leader of the situation on Friday evening, June 9. The Prime Minister at the time consented to take the cow as a gift.
Hasan Jahid Tusher, the deputy press secretary for the prime minister, confirmed the information.
The Prime Minister was pleased, he said, and Bulbul Ahmed and his wife were recognized for their exceptional love.
According to Tushar, the prime minister wanted this cow to stay at Bulbul Ahmed’s home so that it may be sacrificed there on Eid-ul-Azha.
They were asked by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to give the sacrificed meat to the area’s destitute and defenseless citizens.
The cow owned by Ahmed is a Brahma hybrid. He estimated that this cow might produce about 800 kilograms of meat.
To give the Prime Minister a gift in 2020, Ahmed claimed to have purchased this cow from the Netrakona area for Tk 2.5 lac.
He decided to contribute Tk 5000 to the renowned Pagla mosque in the Kishoreganj neighborhood after purchasing the cow to ensure the health of his animal.
Ahmed and his wife Israt Jahan, who works as a field assistant at Pally Sanchay Bank, purchased this cow for the prime minister with a small loan from the ‘One House, One Farm’ scheme of the government and their deposit. For the previous three years, they gave the cow meticulous attention.
According to Ahmed, they purchased and cared for this cow out of passion and affection for the Prime Minister.
Ahmed thanked the Prime Minister and expressed appreciation for allowing him to accept his cow as a gift.
