According to Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, the government has decided to lower the price of edible oil. The price cut would go into effect within a few days.
The price of package soyabean oil has been decreased by Tk10 per liter to Tk 189 and palm oil by Tk 2 per liter to Tk 133. The costs may be dropped more before Eid al-Adha, he said.
According to Tapan Kanti, the price of sugar may also be reduced if the price stays unchanged in the global market. The meeting was held in the Secretariat of the Ministry of Commerce.
