Electronic voting machines (EVMs) were used to start voting Monday morning in the city council elections for Barishal and Khulna. The voting process began at 8:00 am and will go on till 4:00 pm.
Voters in Barishal and Khulna will cast ballots to select the mayor and councilors, with 535,529 voters in Khulna and 276,298 voters in Barishal casting ballots to select the mayor and councilors.
Abul Khair Abdullah, a candidate for the Awami League, and Mufti Syed Faizul of Islami Andolon Bangladesh will face stiff competition in Barishal, while Talukder Abdul Khaleque, a candidate for the AL, is the clear front-runner in Khulna.
