The vice chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has been confined by over 500 post-graduate private training doctors who are demanding monthly allowances should be revised based on the current market condition
Their demands include increasing the monthly stipend to Tk 50,000, paying back arrears, and starting to receive regular payments.
At 10:30 AM, they began to take positions on the BSMMU campus. A fight broke out when they attempted to speak with VC Professor Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed.
At one stage, they locked the VC in his office. They chanted various catchphrases during that time.
In this context, VC Ahmed claimed he told the doctors that the government controls the financial allowance.
“The money will be distributed among the postgraduate students after discussing the matter with the government within the next seven days,” he added.
