Metropolis Desk-
The Brac University Board of Trustees has chosen to rename the institution in memory of the institution’s founder, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed.
The decision was taken during the BoT’s 31st meeting in 2019, while Sir Abed was still alive.
After three years, the institution started the process of renaming itself by requesting approval from the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.
The proposed name is Sir Fazle Hasan Abed University, abbreviated as Abed University.
The University Grants Commission has been contacted by the Secondary and Higher Education Division for feedback on the proposed name change.
The University Grants Commission has requested feedback on the name change in writing to the UGC.
