Mohammad Mahbub Hossain, the cabinet secretary, urged secretaries to be cautious while choosing and financing projects and to keep an eye on the trajectory of international commerce and investment. He announced the decision during a Monday meeting of the secretaries’ committee.
According to the regulations, the secretaries’ meeting is presided over by the cabinet secretary once a month. However, seven months after the present cabinet secretary assumed control, the first secretary meeting was held on Monday.
Cabinet sources said that the meeting was called to give the administration instructions on how to get ready for the elections, but the cabinet secretary claimed that no such instructions were provided and that it was simply a routine meeting of the secretaries.
