Metropolis Desk-
Through pre-paid metering systems for residential and commercial consumers, the World Bank has granted $300 million to increase Bangladesh’s gas distribution and usage efficiency.
The effort attempts to address natural gas leakage and losses as well as methane emissions.
Prepaid gas meters will be placed in more than 1.2 million, with 128,000 in Rajshahi and 1.1 million in Dhaka.
Their efficacy will be demonstrated through a pilot study comprising 50 smart meters for industrial users.
A Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition and Geographic Information System will also be put in place to enhance the monitoring of gas flow and decrease methane leakage.
