Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev announced that nuclear fuel for the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) will reach Bangladesh in September.
The project has overcome numerous obstacles, and the fuel will be delivered to Bangladesh in September. The DG briefed the PM on the overall progress of the power plant and discussed the plant’s opening celebrations.
Sheikh Hasina thanked all involved for advancing the RNPP project despite the Covid-19 pandemic and global crisis. Sheikh Hasina also expressed gratitude to Russia for providing technology and financial assistance.
The meeting was attended by Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman, Ambassador-at-large Mohammad Ziauddin, PM’s Principal Secretary M Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Senior Secretary of Science and Technology Ministry Ziaul Hasan, PM’s Special Assistant Dr Shaheed Hossain, and Bangladesh Ambassador to Russia Kamrul Ahsan.
