Prior to the national elections in Bangladesh, US Ambassador Peter Haas declared that a pre-election monitoring team will be dispatched to evaluate the pre-poll conditions in the country.
Experts from the International Republican Institute, and National Democratic Institute, and election monitoring specialists will make up the team.
The timetable for the team is not yet public. Haas met with Election Commissioner Ahsan Habib and EC Secretary Jahangir Alam at the Election Commission headquarters.
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal was also present. The anticipated date of the 12th national elections in late December or early January of the following year.
