July Sees 5.86 Percent Decline in Remittance Inflow

Based on figures released by the central bank, remittance inflows to Bangladesh decreased by 5.86 percent year over year to $1.97 billion in July.

The previous year, in the same month, it was $2.09 billion. In the first month of the new fiscal year, migrant workers’ transfers of funds decreased by 10.27 percent from $2.19 billion in June.

Md. Sarwar Hossain, an assistant spokesperson for Bangladesh Bank, characterized July’s receipts as improved. Due to the Eid celebration, Bangladeshi expatriates sent more remittances in June.
