Amnesty International Calls on Bangladesh to Stop Using Force Against Opposition

Metropolis Desk-

Following violent clashes with police during the Bangladesh National Party (BNP) protests on July 28 and 29, Amnesty International has urged Bangladeshi authorities to stop using excessive force against protestors.

They ask for strict adherence to the law by law enforcement officials as well as respect for freedom of expression and peaceful assembly and identify human rights violations by the authorities.

To support the conclusions, Amnesty’s researchers and Crisis Evidence Lab examined 56 images, 18 videos, and 9 eyewitness accounts from the protests.

To prevent additional damage to people’s bodily integrity and a potential escalation of the crisis, the research emphasizes the necessity of strict adherence to the law and respect for people’s rights.
