With a 9.75 percent share of all American apparel imports, Bangladesh will continue to be the third biggest source of clothing in 2022.
In 2022, the US imported $9.74 billion worth of garments from Bangladesh, up from $7.16 billion in 2021 and $5.40 billion in 2018.
This growth represents a 36.38 percent year-over-year increase. With a CAGR of 13.99 percent during the previous five years, the US is a significant importer of clothing for both Bangladesh and the rest of the world.
China, the country from which the US imports the most clothing, saw a growth of 10.83 percent in 2022.
Vietnam remains in second place, with the value of US clothing from Vietnam reaching $18.24 billion in 2022.
Other top countries with notable growth include Cambodia, South Korea, Pakistan, Honduras, and Mexico.
The US has faced issues in trade between the US and Bangladesh, including the mandatory fumigation requirement for cotton imports.
