The Ukrainian city of Kostyantynivka was hit by missiles, resulting in at least 16 fatalities.
President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Russia and claimed those slain were “people who did nothing wrong”; he also expressed concern that the death toll would rise.
The front line is close to Kostyantynivka, which is located in eastern Donetsk, Ukraine.
Mr. Zelensky went on to say, “This Russian evil must be destroyed as soon as possible.” The claims have not yet been addressed by Moscow’s authorities. A toddler is among the 16 people confirmed killed, and it is estimated that another 28 people were hurt.
The fire is controlled, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who also stated that “all services are functioning.”

The attack’s perpetrators have not yet been identified by Russian authorities. They have already refuted claims that their onslaught includes targeting civilians.
The attack on Wednesday took place as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken traveled to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, where he was scheduled to meet with Mr. Zelensky.
It was anticipated that during his visit, Obama would present an updated US aid initiative for the war-torn nation.
Due to its proximity to the conflict, Kostyantynivka has taken a number of hits this year:
On April 2, six civilians were murdered, and 16 apartment buildings and a nursery school were damaged by missiles and rockets.
On May 13, Smerch rockets were used in an attack that killed two individuals, including a 15-year-old girl. The rockets impacted high-rise structures, homes, a gas station, a pharmacy, and shops.
On July 24, two children died in an attack that Ukrainian authorities claimed was carried out by Russian officials using cluster munitions. The location is also roughly 17 miles (27 km) from Bakhmut, where combat is rumored to have been fierce for some time.
Since the start of the war with Russia in February of last year, the authorities in Donetsk, which are controlled by Russia’s proxies, have regularly claimed that Ukrainian forces have been targeting the city.
The interior minister of Ukraine, Ihor Klimenko, posted pictures on Telegram of people he said were rescuers searching through the ruins.
