Today, the cost of potatoes, onions, and eggs is set by the government.
At the retail level, the cost of potatoes and onions has been set at Tk35–36 and Tk64–65 per kilogram, respectively. At the retail level, the cost of eggs was similarly set at Tk12 per piece.

On Thursday, September 14, Tipu Munshi, the minister of commerce, revealed the new prices for potatoes, eggs, and other food goods at a news conference held at the commerce ministry.
The prices were set by the ministry by the suggestions made by the ministries of agriculture, fisheries, and livestock.
At the level of cold storage, potatoes are priced at Tk27 per kg. The minister also said that if potatoes aren’t sold there at a certain price, the government will auction off any potatoes that are kept in cold storage at the agreed-upon price.
Tipu Munshi stated that if market prices do not decrease, the government has also decided to permit the import of eggs.
The government may consider banning the import of eggs if the egg price falls to Tk12 per piece, the minister of commerce said. Market watchers from the Ministry of Commerce would keep an eye on the situation for one or two days.
