This morning in Mohakhali’s Amtoli area, three children, ages 12 to 13, were killed after being run over by a train.
Officer-in-Charge Ferdous Alam Biswas of the Dhaka Railway Station told The Daily Star this evening that the identity of the victims has not yet been revealed.
When the Jamalpur-bound Dewanganj Express train from Kamalapur Railway Station struck them this morning at 6:30 a.m., they were traveling from Mohakhali to the Sainik Club area.
Railway police responded to a tip and arrived at the scene to find their bodies.
The policeman said that one of the children was dressed in a checkered shirt and a pair of black shorts, another in a t-shirt and a pair of black pants, and the third in a blue shirt and a pair of jeans.
For an autopsy, the bodies were kept in the mortuary of the Dhaka Medical College.
The three people may be street kids, according to the police.
