In the 24 hours before 8:00 a.m. today, at least nine more individuals passed away from dengue as the nation struggles with a record-breaking dengue outbreak. Eight of the nine recorded deaths occurred outside the nation’s capital.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said that at least 1,800 dengue cases were hospitalized during 24 hours. Since the first reported epidemic of dengue began in 2000, at least 1,064 people have died from the disease this year, and nearly 2,18,664 more have been sick.
8,921 dengue patients were receiving care at various hospitals throughout the nation Tuesday morning, according to DGHS data. This year, hospitals across the nation have released a total of 2,08,679 patients.
