The Israeli military said on Friday that the majority of the 200 persons who were abducted in Israel by Hamas militants and transported to the Gaza Strip are still alive.
“Most of the hostages are still alive. According to an army statement, deceased bodies were transported to the Gaza Strip.
More than 20 of the hostages, according to the military, were minors, and between 10 and 20 of them were elderly. The IDF further stated that after the Hamas strikes, between 100 and 200 persons are still listed as missing.
Over 1,400 people were killed in the deadliest attack on Israel in its 75-year history on October 7, largely civilians who were shot, mutilated, or burned to death on the first day of the raid, according to Israeli officials. The Palestinian militant group carried out the attack.
According to the Gaza Strip’s health ministry, which is administered by Hamas, Israel’s retaliatory shelling has killed at least 3,785 individuals in the Gaza Strip, the majority of them were civilians.
