Since last month, the price of one kilogram of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has increased to Tk 119.40 from Tk 117.02, according to the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission.
As of 6:00 p.m. today, the new rate is in place.
At a press conference held at the BERC office, BERC Chairman Nurul Amin stated that the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder, including VAT, has increased to Tk 1,433, a Tk 29 increase from Tk 1,404.00.
Long-term LPG sales in certain parts of Dhaka have exceeded BERC-fixed prices.
Moreover, the cost of LPG for cars went up from Tk 64.43 to Tk 65.76 per liter.
Authorities from BERC claimed that the increase in LPG prices was caused by rising costs in Saudi Arabia.
February of last year saw a record-breaking high for LPG prices, at Tk 1,498/12kg cylinder.
