The BBC said on Monday that a data breach had exposed some personal data from a payroll system used by the British military.
The broadcaster stated that no operational Ministry of Defense data was obtained from the system, which was run by an outside contractor, and that the department promptly disconnected the system.
The report claims that information on identities and bank account information of active and retired members of the Royal Navy, Army, and Air Force was compromised.
When Reuters reached out to the Ministry of Defense for comment outside of regular business hours, they did not immediately answer.
The article further stated that MPs could be notified of the change in the Commons on Tuesday.
