Roadside Bomb Kills 2 Children, Injures 15 in Southwest Pakistan

Authorities in restive southwest Pakistan said that at least two children were killed and fifteen others were injured after a roadside bomb went off on Saturday close to a police office.

The injured, according to police officials, comprised both officers and bystanders.
A nearby hospital also received the bodies of the deceased, according to local police official Mujirbur Rehman, who also stated that several of the injured were admitted in severe condition.

After the incident in the Balochistani district of Pishin, nobody quickly took credit for it. But separatist organizations, who have increased their attacks on civilians and security personnel in recent months, are probably going to come under investigation.

In a statement, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the blast, expressed grief for the children who had died, and declared that the perpetrators “do not deserve to be called humans.”

A low-level insurgency by factions seeking independence from the Islamabad-based central government has been ongoing in Baluchistan for many years. Violence in the province has continued despite claims by the administration that it has put an end to the insurgency.
