A gas leak in Shukrabad, Dhaka caused an explosion in which three people, including a child, sustained burn injuries.
The Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery has admitted the injured, who are now in critical condition.
About 5:30 am on Saturday, a house in Shukrabad experienced an explosion due to a gas pipeline leak, according to Md. Tariqul Islam, a resident physician at the Burn Institute, who spoke with bdnews24.com.
In the event, Md. Totan, Nipa, and Bayzid—who provided only their first names—were burned. The child, Bayzid, is three years old, and the businessman, Totan, is thirty-five. Nipa, the housewife, is thirty. The institute’s emergency department admitted them all to the red unit.
Tariqul describes the situation of the three as dire.
Nipa burned 32% of Totan’s body, while Bayzid burned 45%.
Doctors typically consider burning more than 30 percent of the body to be a critical condition.
