Workers at a garment factory in Konabari, Gazipur, called for the resignation of their representatives on Saturday and staged a protest on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, according to UNB.
Because of HR official Lovely’s arbitrary actions, Silikon Swing Ltd.’s workers at Membar Bari under the Joydebpur Police Station staged a protest on the highway, blocking traffic.
Jamuna Denims Ltd. employees in Konabari, meanwhile, blocked the Konabaro-Kashimpur road to emphasize their 19-point demand, which included a pay rise in the morning.
Further demands include paying their outstanding debts along with their salary, providing their previously cancelled annual increment with the current month’s salary, adjusting their pay in accordance with government gazettes, providing promotions and grades in accordance with regulations, and paying their salary and other benefits under the BGMEA law if anyone is placed on forced retirement.
Jahangir Alam, assistant superintendent of Gazipur Industrial Police-2 of Konabari Zone, said that the suspension of vehicle movement caused congestion on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
