MIST Clinches First Place in Formula Bharat 2025 Engineering Design Competition

The Formula student team from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) Department of Mechanical Engineering, known as MIST Blitz, has made a stunning debut in the field of motorsport engineering. The team has accomplished two noteworthy goals: first place in the Formula Bharat 2025 qualifying quiz and first place in the Engineering Design Concept Resources Management (CRM) Combustion Category for the same event.

Inspired by the international Formula Student series, Formula Bharat is India’s top student engineering competition. In various categories such as engineering design, cost efficiency, marketability, and so on, university teams compete by designing and building small-scale race cars in the style of Formula One.

“In March 2024, MIST Blitz began when a group of five friends from the Mechanical Engineering department at MIST decided to study vehicle dynamics over our term-end break. Our journey took off after we registered for Formula Bharat 2025 because of this passion, according to Tahmid Muntasir, the MIST Blitz team leader.

There are currently 38 committed members of MIST Blitz, organized into four main technical sub-teams. Tahmid Muntasir leads the teams responsible for the suspension, steering, and brake systems, Iram Mustavi Chowdhury and Tausif Nawaz lead the chassis and aerodynamics teams, Sakin Islam leads the powertrain team, and Adnan Shahriar leads the electronic control systems team.

To guarantee efficient operations, four managerial sub-teams collaborate with the technical teams: finance, logistics, documentation, and management and outreach. Nazifa Rafa and Maliha Farhin lead the documentation team. The team also owes its success to Maj. Md. Anisur Rahman, GSO-2 of the Mechanical Engineering department, and Lecturer Shah Md. Ahasan Siddique, who provided unwavering direction and crucial resources.

“This team has swiftly added two more feathers to our automotive crown, and we are proud of that. MIST Blitz is essential for our department because it gives Mechanical Engineering students real-world experience, helps them develop transferable skills, and fosters teamwork—all of which are critical building blocks for overcoming obstacles in the automotive industry in the future, said Ahasan.

The Kari Motor Speedway in India will host Formula Bharat 2025 from January 22 to 27, 2025, where MIST Blitz plans to compete. Following this, they hope to further expand their global presence in motorsport engineering by competing in Formula Student UK, which is hosted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
