Following his attendance at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has returned to Dhaka from New York.
At 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, Bangladesh time, he arrived at Shahjalal International Airport via Qatar Airways, as stated by Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary for the Chief Advisor.
At 9:30 p.m. local time (7:30 a.m. Bangladesh time), the chief advisor and his delegation took off on a commercial flight headed for Dhaka from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to Shafiqul.
On September 23, Yunus left for New York to attend the UNGA. On September 27, he addressed the assembly in Bangla.
In his inaugural speech as head of the 170 million people that make up Bangladesh, the acting prime minister urged world leaders to take a new tack when dealing with the developing “new Bangladesh.”
A number of international leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, were among the dignitaries with whom the Nobel laureate met outside of the General Assembly.
In addition, he had meetings with the prime ministers of Pakistan, Brazil, South Africa, the Maldives, Italy, the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, Nepal, and the United States. Other notable figures he met with included Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, World Bank President Ajay Banga, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Myanmar Julie Bishop, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, and many more.
It was at the “Clinton Global Initiative Leaders Stage” event that Yunus first met former US President Bill Clinton.
