Barrister Suman, also known as Syed Sayedul Haque, a former member of parliament, has been taken into custody. Around 1:30 am on Tuesday, police arrested him in the capital’s Mirpur-6 neighborhood.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam of the Pallabi police station told Prothom Alo that Barrister Suman was hiding at his sister’s home.
He has been arrested in connection with two murder cases that have been filed against him at the Mirpur and Adabar police stations.
Barrister Suman wrote, “I am going with the police,” on his verified Facebook page just after 1:15 a.m. last night. I’ll see you in court. Everyone, please pray for me.
A former member of parliament, Barrister Suman, represented the Habiganj-4 (Chunarughat-Madhabpur) constituency.
More than 75 people were arrested by the police after Sheikh Hasina’s government fell during the student-led mass uprising. These people included journalists, government officials, members of parliament, and several former ministers.
