Israeli Forces Land in Lebanese Coastal Town, Detain One Person: Sources

Early on Friday, a suspected Israeli naval force landed in the coastal town of Batroun in northern Lebanon and took one person into custody, according to a security source. Another source confirmed the incident but did not identify the perpetrator.

Security forces were looking into the incident, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.

Israeli and Lebanonese officials did not immediately respond.

In a post on X, pro-Hezbollah journalist Hassan Illaik claimed that a sizable contingent of Israeli troops landed in the resort town, took the man into custody, and then left on speed boats.

He uploaded what appeared to be CCTV footage of soldiers walking down a street, with two of them holding someone.

Hezbollah’s official representative in Lebanon’s government, Ali Hamiye, the country’s minister of transportation, stated that the video was accurate but did not elaborate.
