In Cumilla’s Chauddagram, a bus lost control and struck a tree, killing three passengers and injuring at least ten more.
Md Jashim Uddin, the chief of Miabazar Highway Police, said the accident happened on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway between the Pedua and Gangra areas on Sunday at around noon.
As of 2:45 pm, the Highway Police were unable to verify the identities of the deceased.
According to OC Jashim, a Hanif CDM Paribahan bus was traveling from Chattogram to Brahmanbaria’s Nabinagar on Sunday when it abruptly lost control and collided with a tree by the side of the road.
Three people died instantly as a result of the damage to the bus.
When the incident was reported, Highway Police and a Chauddagram Fire Service unit hurried to the scene and carried out rescue operations. The bodies of the deceased were retrieved by the Fire Service personnel.
The injured have been transported in critical condition to the Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex.
Due to the Highway Police official, the bus has been seized and the deceased are being identified.
