At least 6 people have died after houses collapsed in a moderate earthquake in Nepal.
The earthquake around 2 am shook the country’s western region on Tuesday.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), its magnitude was 5.6 on the Richter scale.
The earthquake’s epicentre was 340 km west of Nepal’s capital Kathmandu, near the town of Dipayal, at a depth of 15.7 km below the surface.
At least eight houses collapsed in Nepal’s Doti district, killing six people. At least five others were seriously injured, says a Nepalese official.
The late-night earthquake was felt in northern India, even from the capital, New Delhi.
Videos on social media showed terrified residents running out of their homes after the quake.
Earlier on Tuesday, around 9 pm, another earthquake occurred in the same area of Nepal.
The USGS said the quake measured 4.8 on the Richter scale and had an epicentre near Dipayal.
